More gems from the fashion swap

First of all, I love my hammock. Second of all, I love my new-to-me J.Crew mary jane heels.

And you won't believe me when I tell you this, but those are JEGGINGS. Yeah. Jeggings. Like, leggings that look like jeans. With fake front pockets and everything. Those are another item I scored from the fashion swap. I never thought I'd ever wear jeggings. In fact, as I slipped the pants on during the swap, my mind was like, "hmm, why are these skinny jeans so extra tight?" Duh.

Being pear-shaped, I didn't know if I could wear jeggings without offending the public. But as I've styled them, I've found them to be super-versatile. They are complemented by this flowy top, and wearing heels is a no-brainer for extra length in my legs.

I'm officially sold on jeggings. Heck, if Conan can wear them on national TV, than I can at least wear them in O-town.

Hipster, Thrifter, Fashion Swap

Mikki's fashion swap was a serious success for me. Sure, it was probably great for everyone else too, but I was so enamored with my own finds that I wasn't paying much attention.

If you haven't noticed, Mikki is a petite little miss, but that didn't stop me from swapping some of my items for some of hers. Who cares if I'm like, 5 inches taller than her? Who cares that she's so mini she wore this dress while PREGNANT? This dress suits me as a tunic top. I've had a hard time styling it, but I finally settled on these ancient Target capris for today.

I couldn't pass it up because 1) it's GAP and I'm obviously addicted; 2) it's super-soft 3) if you don't consider the fact that it's supposed to be a dress, it otherwise fits me perfectly.

Stay tuned to see what J.Crew items I scored. You'll die.

Feeding my addiction

This weekend has been amazing so far (except the "B" key on my laptop is sticking... uh oh). ANYWAY.

I attended the Prom at Vintage Cupcake, the fashion swap (hosted at Vintage Cupcake) and I went to a 5 year old's birthday party. Can you handle the fun?

In addition to all the events, I also won a pair of shoes from Blowfish Shoes via Mikki, who is the mastermind behind Indie Ogden Utah. I had a really hard time narrowing down my choices when I submitted my entries to the contest, but I'm leaning toward this pair of sandal wedges.

What do you think? What would you pick from Blowfish? They're having a 30% off sale right now, with free shipping, so definitely check out their merch.

Oh, not like I need more shoes... I got a pair of J.Crew heels from the fashion swap, and a pair of boots. But hey, free shoes are FREE SHOES.

The phone is ringing so I say "HELLO?" (part II)

If you're like me and misplace your cell phone about once a day, then you need to bookmark this website on your computer: ICan'tFindMyPhone.com

It's a free service, and you can enter your number online so the site will call your phone. This morning I searched high and low and could NOT find my stupid phone. It'd been missing since yesterday.

Guess where I found it...

In the depths of my diaper bag. I'm really starting to hate that thing. I swear I thoroughly looked through it last night.

Anyway, I'm glad I remembered hearing about the free-phone-calling-site because it saved me this morning.

Happy Hunting!

I never went to Prom

I won tickets to this event in Ogden and I'm so excited to go out and celebrate Vintage Cupcake's first birthday. Kev will be home with the babe so a girlfriend and I can get dolled up and party like rockstars. Until 9pm when I'll probably fall asleep in a chair.

Regardless of how tired I'll be, I'm so excited. I'll finally get to wear my "wedding" dress again, and I'll get to slap on some red lipstick and my grandmother's pink, faux pearls.

To make the weekend even better, on Saturday I'll be back at Vintage Cupcake for a clothing swap! I already have a mental list of clothes I can bring so they can find a new home and get worn more. This is gong to be an awesome weekend full of great treats and good friends. Hope to see you there!

Everybody, Everywear: Lace

This month's challenge is lace... and I had a completely different outfit on, but then I sat on the patio chair without realizing first that it was full of water. So... I changed.

Good thing I have more than one item in my closet with lace (not that I'd photograph my wet bum... but y'know...).

I have to see a man about a dog...

Last night Kev, Seth and I watched "Leatherheads" and now I can't get 1920s fashion out of my head. I want a hat!

I've always loved the 20s, especially since reading "The Great Gatsby" in high school (and then again in college, and then again after college, and then again...).

ModCloth has these and other awesome dresses, and of course, Etsy is a great place to find vintage fashions. Check them out and you'll fall in love too.

Something to sit on.

How perfect are these pillows for my hammock? Um, really really perfect. Do you know how much I love sitting in my hammock, watching the baby eat grass? It's so refreshing and funny. you see, she prefers not to be in the hammock unless she's sleepy. So instead of rocking with mama in the hammock, she sits on the grass while the dog rocks in the hammock with mama.

My backyard daydreaming would be complete with some beachy, citrus-colored pillows like these. They come as a set, which is the best. Really. Who likes seeing an awesome pillow and finding out that it's $20 for just one? Not me.

Plan Toys on Gilt Groupe

Kev recently brought home some animal figurines for Aspen, and she mostly loves sticking them in her mouth to suck on them right now.

However, that doesn't keep me from imaging her someday lining them up and playing... jungle... ? with them. Afterall, Paul showed her how last Sunday. Only, I'm not sure the snake flashlight counts as a predator.

Regardless, I loved these dress up animals ($12) the moment I saw them. Maybe they won't know whether they're predator or prey, but at least they'll look good!
The "outfits" are reversible and so fun! Hopefully Aspen wouldn't think it's okay to dress the dog. I mean, we never do that at our house.
Another animal toy that caught my eye is this ($4) fishy. He's on a line, which retracts when your little one holds the wooden rod. I grew up fishing on occassion with my Grandpa, so I love this. Much more simple than those magnetic fishing toys, yes?

I also love this boat set. So cute with the little sailor head! And at only $10, how can you resist? Wooden toys have become a favorite right now. They're so versatile; perfect for stacking, chewing, knocking together, and they make a great sound when they're tossed into Aspen's wooden sorting box.

The Plan Toys sale on Gilt Groupe ends June 11th, so don't miss out!

and the band played on

This piano is pint-sized just for your little one. How sophisticated and cute at the same time.

Of if you're more into traditional children's toys/music, then maybe you'd like the band in a box. Everything your little one needs to get the whole family involved in making music. So cute!

Right now Aspen is content to just hit wooden blocks together, but that's still music to my ears.

voulez-vous voyager a paris?

I KNOW I DO!

I have never been to France. I've had the opportunity, but I was 12 and hated my life and I decided to be a brat and not go with my parents and a group of WSU college students. But, since I hated my life I probably would've found ways to be miserable even while traipsing around the City of Lights and eating croissants. So it's probably a good thing I didn't go and make others miserable too.

Anyway. Let me get to the point.

Jordan from Oh Happy Day is so freakin amazing that SHE'S OFFERING A PAID TRIP TO PARIS FOR TWO. And when I say "offering" I mean she's actually paying for it herself. Like, she loves her readers so much and wants to show that. So, yeah. All the details are on her blog, so get going and enter at Oh Happy Day.

But don't you dare win because I'll call upon my teenage angst and use it to think mean thoughts about you.

(Also, check out the post below for over 50% off Blurb books via Groupon).

Blurb book discounts!

If you want to make your blog into a book, then Groupon can help you make it happen! They're offering discounts for Blurb blog books today, so check it.

Head over to Groupon and snatch up today's Ogden, Utah deal so you can get over 50% off your next blog book via Blurb.

You're welcome!!

wild, wild west

Since Aspen was a wee little lass, the only socks that have stayed on her teensy tiny feet are Trumpette. I was given a lot of clothes, and included in one load of adorable items was a box of Trumpette socks. They are of the extra-cute variety, having colored bottoms and matching bows to resemble little ballet slippers on my baby's sweet feets.

Gilt Groupe is hosting a HUMONGOUS sale on Trumpette merchandise, and you can guarantee it will all stay put on your little one's foot.

Mosey on over to Gilt, sign up for free, and take a look at the unbelievably cute footwear they have on sale until June 8th. I mean, really? COWGIRL socks? Yee-haw.
