A collection of some of my favorite things in the Pink House.

Welcome to the first thing you see when you walk into my kitchen. Allow me to show you some items in detail.

When some offices moved around on the WSU campus, it meant that a lot of abandoned items were up for grabs: office furniture, trash cans, and random cookware/flatware/dishes in the break rooms.

I got these tins. At the PH, they house candles, apple cider mix, mail, and dog bones. They match perfectly with the WSU library desk Kev got for me out of a dumpster.

This month, I finally found a gravy boat and saucer that I love. It's from Etsy, of course. I purchased it from A Touch of Vintage, and I couldn't be happier with it. Now I no longer have to serve syrups and sauces from my Pyrex measuring cup (this gravy boat is actually a Pryex product from back in the day).

When the Harrisville D.I. opened up (to replace the tiny one in Ogden) Kev, Paul and I ventured over on the day of its grand-opening. I'm glad I did, even if I had to sacrifice eating dinner on time.

I found these white pillar candle holders for a deal. I love thrifting.

They live in the bathroom for now. Because... it's a practical place for candles.

What are some of your favorite items in YOUR house?

Bare Minerals

I love it.

Although, I am kicking myself for not just trying the grocery-store-counterpart Fresh Minerals- which is $20 cheaper and comes with an eye collection. My girl Ashley said that's what she uses and her skin looks amazing. Note to self: always talk with Ashley about make-up before taking the plunge.

Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase. After only three days I see a difference in my skin. It's smoother. It has better color. I adore the warming powder. It brightens up my skin tone and brings the right amount of warmth to my otherwise extremely pale skin. Once I run out, I think I'll switch right over to the Fresh Minerals collection. It's available at Smith's Grocery, which is so much more convenient than driving through Riverdale traffic to visit Ulta.

Lesson learned: Bare Minerals is worth it, but its price tag is not compatible with me for the long-haul.

There aren't any locks on the doors, for real.

I have a history with LLBean. It's in my hometown. When I visited Freeport this summer, my sister and I came across this display of every catalogue cover LLBean produced. So fun!

They have life-time warranties on their products. So my Grandpa's 20-year-old-worn-out-boots can be replaced for free.

It's open 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. It never closes. So when you're bored and in Freeport, check out LLBean. Wander around. Buy a postcard. Try on a pair of famous Bean Boots.

Also, please please please try their chocolate covered cranberries.

Man on Wire

Kev asked me to watch Man on Wire with him this week. I had no idea what it was about when I sat down to paint my nails and watch the show with him. I thought it was about rock climbing. The obscure title threw me.

First of all, it's not a rock climbing movie. Second of all, it has a significant amount of French subtitles, so choosing to paint my nails was a bad idea. Although I can pick up a lot of French vocab (I studied for three years in college) I am no good at stringing all that vocab together to understand everything by ear.

Regardless of missing some of the comments in the movie, I still loved it. I love French. I love their accents. I loved the idea of Phillipe's life, even though I don't love his reckless view of life and death.

To Philippe, it's just like breathing. As a circus performer he is comfortable with crowds and heights and feats unimaginable to many. But the fact that he can just write off a fall from 1/4 of a mile like it's no big deal astonishes me. Completing that dream of his changed him forever. He became someone instead of just a tightrope walker. He fulfilled a dream he'd schemed since he was 17 years old.

How many of us can say the same? What were you dreaming of at 17? Are you where you thought you would be?

A little shopping in Maine is good for the soul

Leopard Canvas Trench
Bought it on my trip to Maine. Sophia got one too, in a different pattern. That way we can switch when we get bored.
