Until I found my teal shorts, I had been scouring shops to find the right pair at the right price. And really, I'm so cheap that spending $20 on a pair of shorts was hard for me.

Poolside

Aspen and I joined some friends at the pool this week and I was wishing for a sunhat as I sat in 100degree weather. Even with SPF 50 my nose got pink after an hour at the pool. Yikes. So I need a sunhat next time, and another application of sunscreen.

Delight in J. Crew

I admit I've purchased clothes from J. Crew for Aspen. In my defense, it's usually at the outlet (when I visit my parents) or when items are on sale online for less than $10 each. Otherwise, I can't justify spending that kind of money on clothes Aspen will only wear for a few months before they're too small (or stained beyond saving!).

It doesn't stop me from occassionally checking out full-priced merchandise just for fun, though! See what I'm loving for this summer for Aspen (in a dream world):

Target Mossimo Shorts

I recently got these shorts in teal, and having worn them a few times now I wish I could get them in all the colors! I've also been looking for a good pair of THESE, but then my sister gave me an old pair of jeans she doesn't want so I'm making my own. SCORE.

Summer is hot. With no AC in the Pink House and nary a breeze to be found outside, an up-do is a must on occasion.

Also, Maddie likes to sunbathe waaaaaaaaay too much.

I never went to Prom

I won tickets to this event in Ogden and I'm so excited to go out and celebrate Vintage Cupcake's first birthday. Kev will be home with the babe so a girlfriend and I can get dolled up and party like rockstars. Until 9pm when I'll probably fall asleep in a chair.

Regardless of how tired I'll be, I'm so excited. I'll finally get to wear my "wedding" dress again, and I'll get to slap on some red lipstick and my grandmother's pink, faux pearls.

To make the weekend even better, on Saturday I'll be back at Vintage Cupcake for a clothing swap! I already have a mental list of clothes I can bring so they can find a new home and get worn more. This is gong to be an awesome weekend full of great treats and good friends. Hope to see you there!
